StringNova Orchestra-An Orchestra for Homeschoolers
StringNova is an educational program for beginning and intermediate string players who are currently studying violin, viola, cello, or bass. Our mission is to provide students with access to excellent music education in a community that is designed to take student’s skills to the next level, teach teamwork, and to instill confidence and camaraderie among the students. The class is taught by Melissa Martin, a music teacher, orchestra director, and violin performer.
Requirements to Join StringNova Orchestra
- Students must be currently enrolled in private lessons on their string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass).
- Students need to have taken lessons for at least one year.
- Students need to be able to play a D Major Scale.
- Students need to be able to read music.
- Students need to be able to attend rehearsals each week and attend the concert.
Cost to Join
$175 per student. (Families with more than one student: 1st student is $175, other students are $100 per student). Fees must be paid by the 1st rehearsal. Payment can be made via Venmo, Paypal, Cash, or Check.
Time and Location
The orchestra will rehearse at Calvary Chapel of Rochester (2503 Browncroft Blvd, Rochester, NY 14625) on Thursdays from 1:00-2:00 PM. Students should plan to arrive 10 minutes before rehearsal begins so they have time to unpack, tune, and be in their seats ready to begin.

Spring Concert Date is Friday, May 3, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Calvary Chapel of Rochester.
How to Apply to be a Part of StringNova Orchestra
Fill out the application form and email it to m.e.martin003@gmail.com. Spots are limited for each instrument, and students will be selected based on first come, first served. Students will be contacted to confirm registration.
